A couple of days ago, this meme was texted to me. What do you think about the message?

Does this message ring true when you examine it against what your pastors and spiritual influencers have taught you?

I'll give you a moment to think about it.

The essence of this meme is a doctrinal message. Now, I don't know who created this, but I know a doctrinal message when I see one.

Let's talk about doctrine for a minute.

Doctrine is defined as a particular principle or position that is taught.

This meme and others like it are not simple images to encourage Christians; it is actually a doctrinal message. The examination of this meme flows from the spiritual gift known as the discerning of spirits.

The Holy Spirit has empowered Christians with the spiritual gift of discerning the presence and operation of spirits. This includes the Holy Spirit, your human spirit, holy angels, and other types of spirits.

But are Christians, are you, functioning in this supernatural gift to the level intended by God?

The gift of discerning spirits is more than having a strange feeling come over you when someone or something seems suspicious to you or you are uncomfortable. Did you know this gift is your source for discerning when spirits are teaching or attempting to teach you something?

Yes, all spirits teach!

ALL SPIRITS TEACH!

Paul is reminding Timothy of a few things in this 1Timothy 4:1 passage:

1️⃣ The true faith of Jesus Christ had already been taught (doctrine)

2️⃣ Another faith that comes from other spirits (demons) would also be taught (doctrine).

3️⃣ Some who had once lived with the true doctrine (teaching of the Apostles) would start making room in their mind and hearts for another faith. They would be seduced by spirits to incrementally move away from the truth of God.

Reader, by now, you probably know the point of this meme and why I'm sharing it with you.

This meme is a false doctrinal teaching that contradicts the Word of God and presents a false inference to the essence of a Believer's relationship with God.

I'll explain...

"Satan thought he had taken everything away from Job."

When God presented Job to Satan for this experience, he gave Satan a boundary that he could not cross. He could not take his life! Satan knew from the beginning that his ability to take from Job had limits that he could never cross. Satan would never have everything that was in Job's care!

The true doctrine (teachings) in God's Word assures Believers that God secures and protects everything that concerns us (Psalms 138:8).

God has boundaries around you for which Satan has zero permission to put forth his hand. When you discern spirits are attempting to move against you, or seducing spirits are swaying you away from God's truth, stop and inquire of the Lord if this experience is a test or violation of boundaries set by God.

Here's the second doctrine of demons (teaching) in this meme...

"But to Job, God was his everything."

False again!!!

Job lived a full life just as God wants us to live a full life. This doctrine of devils has seduced Believers to embrace the mindset that the only thing they need is Jesus...and nobody else! Surely, you hear that popular song lyric in your mind now.

We are the body of Christ.

We are to show ourselves friendly in order to have friends. Yes, God means for us to have friends.

We are to have a good name. What's the point if God is everything you need? A good name is for reputation and favor among people.

Adam was with God, but God declared it wasn't good for him to be alone

After the testing, God restored all that Job lost and even doubled it.

Etc...

And of course, if this doctrine from devils were true, then why did Jesus immediately recruit and entrust disciples? It's because we are fitly joined together with one another.

Sadly, even Church people have been seduced to embrace this doctrine that completely contradicts the Word of God.

I hope and pray this seduction hasn't begun to hold sway on your mindset.

If it has, the first order of business is to repent.

Remember, all spirits teach!

When our children were young and began to spend time outside of the home, I knew it was important to listen and monitor what was seeking to seduce them away from God. In fact, I still do it to this day, but I rely more on the Holy Spirit because we are separated by distance. There were times I would hear them make a statement, and immediately, I would ask, "Who told you that?". By the gift of discerning of spirits, I could hear a doctrine of devils that had been presented to my children. It then became my responsibility to trap that teaching (and seducing spirit that had presented it to my child) and expel it from their mind.

Raising a child in the fear and admonition of the Lord is no joke. No time for slacking!!

On the other hand, it's no casual task to trap doctrines of devils that are presented to us. Yet, it is our responsibility to watch over our souls.

In closing...

The gift of the Holy Spirit to discern spirits needs to be active and exercised every day. Because all spirits teach, we must become skilled in discerning what spirit is teaching behind the sermons we hear, the memes we see, and the songs we sing etc...

Secondly, I admonish you to remember that God's desire is for you to enjoy life and to live victoriously in every area. Satan does not have free reign in any area of your life as long as you live under the shadow of the Lord.

If you allow yourself to be swayed by seducing spirits, then you become vulnerable to the assault of the doctrine of demons (teaching by spirits).

Lastly, testify LESS about Satan and more about God.

That last point is an entire sermon series!
